Unusual behavior leads to arrest at local school

Weaverville – An incident at North Buncombe Middle School on Friday morning (October 25th) ended with the arrest of a parent on drug and gun charges.

According to Stacia Harris, Buncombe County Schools Director of Communications, Angela Renee Buckner, a parent of a student, “was on campus for a meeting with staff during which she exhibited unusual behavior.

“After exiting the school building after the meeting, the North Buncombe Middle SRO (J.T. Eller) discovered the weapons and handled the situation quickly and appropriately. We appreciate the support of our SROs in keeping our students and staff safe,” said Harris in her statement to the press.

According to the arrest report filed with the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Department, Buckner, 51, of Whitt Road in Weaverville was arrested at 9:55 am on a felony charge of methamphetamine and felony possession of a gun on educational property.

“This happened during school hours. No students were threatened or in danger,” added Harris in her statement.
