Storied run for softball team comes to an end

NBHS – In a heartbreaking season-ending game Friday evening (May 17) the BlackHawks lost to Marvin Ridge High Friday nine to nothing in Waxhaw in the fourth round of the state playoffs for the Regional 3A State Championship, ending their storied season.
“It was a tough loss. They [Marvin Ridge] were the type of team that constantly put the ball in play and we had a few errors that we could not recover from,” said North Buncombe Softball Coach Tiffani Ferguson.
Ferguson did have a positive perspective when looking back on the season as a whole and heading into the future. “It was a great season and making it to the fourth round of playoffs was icing on the cake! North Buncombe has proved that it can and will compete and we hope to continue to grow the program and get better each year.”
The BlackHawks’ overall season record was 20-5 with a conference record of 15-1 and a state ranking of 22.
