School gives band send-off
on Normandy trip

Special to The Tribune

Come one, come all! The North Buncombe High School BlackHawk Band would like to invite friends, family, and community to the Bon Voyage Performance featuring some of the music they will be performing in France. This performance will be in the NBHS football stadium on Saturday, June 1st at 5 pm.
The NBHS BlackHawk band has been invited to honor the Greatest Generation through music by representing our school, our community, and our country in the 75th Anniversary of the WWII D-Day Invasion of Normandy, France. During the trip from June 4th – June 11th, the band will participate in events and activities surrounding the Musical Salute to the Veterans by performing at several iconic landmarks throughout the Normandy region and Paris.
The BlackHawk Band wishes to thank its many sponsors including Leicester Flooring, Alan’s Jewelry and Pawn, Quartz Corporation, Ruth Smith Law Firm, Lettering by Larry, and WNC Health. They state that they could not have done this without the generosity the sponsors as well as family and friends who have contributed in so many ways to make this trip a reality.
Although this performance is free and open to the public, it is not too late to contribute to this educational trip. Text MUSIC to 91999 to make a contribution. More information is available at
Diane Saccone, right, along with her husband Dominic, left.
