Middle school basketball teams looking for great season

By Stephanie Banks

NBMS – North Buncombe Middle School Boys’ Basketball team started the season off with two wins last week. The season opened with a scrimmage at Madison Middle School, with the Hawks winning over the Madison Patriots. The Hawks outscored the Patriots 58-20 with the Hawks outscoring the patriots 20-0 in the third quarter. North Buncombe’s Parker Ingle had four 3-point shots in the game for 12 points on fire against the Patriots. Gabe Banks, as the Hawk’s post, held down his own points with 12 himself.

There is a 5th quarter for the seventh-grade boys as well. The Hawks won this game, with Carson Brown and Eli Shinn putting great points on the board. Elijah Henson had a star night on rebounds and assists in the scrimmage.

On Thursday, the boys’ basketball team had a home opener against Valley Springs Middle School. It was a big hard-fought win with this night. North Buncombe held Valley Springs to single digit quarters with a great win coming out for the Hawks 27-24. Chad Clark was the star of the show with Valley not knowing how to take this point guard. He had 8 points, and 4 steals. Big steals at the end of the game keeping the ball with the Hawks each time Valley wanted to try to take a lead, Clark would steal the ball and drive down court. Spencer Roane had six points and five steals on a hot streak on the night for his stats. Clark and Roane with combined nine steals caused havoc on the court for Valley.

Come out support your Middle School teams. These games are just the start of great ones. Word is that records for the season are going to be broken with this crew! Girls’ and Boys’ schedules and times are up on the school website.
