Lots to do at town’s community event

By Clint Parker

Woodfin – It was the first real day of Fall on Saturday (Oct. 5) when the Town of Woodfin conducted its Community Night event with a little something for everyone.

The firefighters of the Woodfin Fire Department demonstrated their ability to extract a person from a car by taking apart an actual vehicle for people to see their skills and equipment in action.

NC Wildlife was on hand to let kids have some hands-on experience shooting an air rifle. The town also brought in inflatables for the children, which included a junior mechanical bull.

A free lunch was also part of the festivities as well as the West Buncombe Fire Department’s smokehouse for real-world fire education. For those hoping to meet Woodfin’s new canine officer, “Chef,” he also put in an appearance at the event.
