NBHS – Senior Night was all it was cracked up to be as Ren Dyer continued his stellar play when North Buncombe collected a hard-fought victory over A.C. ReynoldsA.C. Reynolds, while the Lady BlackHawks also earned a dominating win over the Rockets on Friday evening.
In the first contest of the evening, the North Buncombe girls began the opening period on a hot streak as thanks in part to two Pressley Laws three-pointers. The Rockets, though, would take a 23-17 lead into the halftime break.
The Lady BlackHawks quickly found their stride in the third quarter, scoring 25 points in the period, and would go on to win 55-40 over A.C Reynolds.
In the second game of the night, the North Buncombe boys also began the first period hot as Ren Dyer took over, scoring 18 first quarter points. The BlackHawks lead 29-20 at the end of the quarter. A.C. Reynolds quickly found its rhythm in the second quarter, grabbing a 31-20 lead on a Jay-Quan Lewis runner, as the Rockets capitalized on an 11-0 run. The BlackHawks quickly regained the lead as Dyer converted with a shifty layup.
A.C. Reynolds’ push came short as North Buncombe collected a 72-68 crucial victory over the Rockets on Dyer’s 42-point night. The BlackHawks win helped North Buncombe keep pace with Tuscola, following Tuscola’s loss to West Henderson Friday night, as the BlackHawks now hold a half-game lead in the conference standings. The BlackHawks final game of the regular season will be Tuesday at Asheville.
