Swannanoa – The cheerleading team at North Buncombe High School worked hard recently to help those still recovering from Hurricane Florence.
One of the cheerleader’s moms, Sandy Griffin, says that their coach had been looking for some community service projects for the team. Griffin arranged this opportunity at Hearts With Hands well before the hurricane struck. It just so happens that the team was in the right place at the right time to help with this immense recovery effort.
The students packed more than 200 hygiene kits in two hours and helped sort a truckload of supplies. “The team had a great time…Hearts with Hands was very appreciative of their help and asked the girls to come back when they had the opportunity,” Griffin said.
Hearts With Hands still has a huge need for volunteers. You can contact them directly if you’d like to help.
