BREAKING NEWS UPDATE: Buncombe Chief ADA Hasty found dead in Weaverville

Weaverville – Buncombe County Sheriff’s officials have a home on Woodstone Drive in Weaverville taped off and were conducting a death investigation there while Buncombe County District Attorney has confirmed in a tweet that Chief Assistant District Attorney Rodney Hasty died suddenly on Saturday.

William stated in his tweet, that he had been notified of Hasty’s passing. He also added information about Hasty’s educational background and employment history with the district attorney’s office where he was first hired in 1995 fresh out of law school at Wake Forest.

Hasty, 50, left the DA’s office in 2009 after he wrecked his car on 19/23 near Weaverville and was found to be under the influence of drugs and alcohol. He was hired back by D.A. Williams in January of 2015. While a cause for Hasty’s death has not been released, Aaron Sarver with the Sheriff’s Office said that “no foul play [was] involved in Mr. Hasty’s death.”
