BlackHawks soar past Rams

South Asheville – North Buncombe’s BlackHawks (now 3-1) put another notch in their win column Friday night (Sept. 20th) as they rocked the Roberson Rams (now 1-4) with a loss at their home field in South Asheville, 20-14.

According to information found on, the Hawks scored all their points before the end of the first half with seven points in the first quarter and 13 in the second quarter, while the Rams scored seven in the first and seven in the third quarter.

The win was a bounce-back for the BlackHawks, from a loss (the season’s first) the week before when North Buncombe, at home, dropped their first conference game against the West Henderson Falcons 35-7.

Friday night, the BlackHawks will be back home looking for another win. This time against the Erwin Warriors (now 1-4) who also found success this past Friday, their first win of the season against the Asheville High Cougars (also 1-4). Coach Rodney Pruett’s Warriors beat the Cougars 42-30.

According to, the Warriors come to North Buncombe ranked 196th in the state, while Coach Brandon Allen’s BlackHawks are ranked 141st in the state. Kick-off is at 7:30 pm.
