Madison County – An accident on Ivy Hill Road Sunday evening, September 30th sent one person to the hospital. According to NC Highway Patrol Trooper J.L. Fox, who was working the accident, the incident involved one vehicle whose driver was Ralph Chandler of Marshall.
According to Fox’s report, Chandler was traveling east on Ivy Hill Road in his 2006 Chevy pickup when his vehicleran off the road to the right before Chandler overcorrected and traveled left of the center and off the road and through a fence, over an embankment, hitting a tree and finally coming to a stop in a pasture owned by Zenina Farms.
Chandler was taken to Mission Hospital in Asheville by Madison County EMS ambulance. A member of Chandler’s family called later that evening to say Chandler was in critical condition. The Tribune called on Tuesday afternoon to get an update for Chandler’s condition, but was unable to obtain any new information.
According to the accident report, Trooper Fox charged Chandler with several violations including driving left of center and with having an open container of alcohol.
