Mars Hill – The North Buncombe High School Class of 1969, recently celebrated their 50th class reunion with a gathering of alumni held at the Broyhill Chapel of Mars Hill University.

The former classmates and their guests assembled in the chapel for opening comments from the master of ceremonies, Austin Cole. The invocation for the event was led by a member of the class, Reverend Jerry Jamerson.

Events for the day included a gathering of class members outside the chapel for pictures, and a dinner which was served cafeteria-style by alumni Ron Duyck, Fred Morgan, Robert Hollifield, and Roger Maney. Three former school teachers were in attendance, and door prizes donated by local businesses were awarded to lucky winners.

A special memorial display was set up during the event to honor the classmates who have passed. Going forward a yearly reunion for the class of 1969 is planned at Mars Hill University on the third Saturday of September.
