Woodfin – On Friday (August 30) there was an attempted robbery of a store on Weaverville Highway, according to a Woodfin Police report filed by Officer M. A. Owenby. Several Woodfin Police officers along with a Buncombe County Sheriff’s deputy responded to the call.
The attempted robbery occurred at Tienda El Quetzal at 150 Weaverville Highway where, according to Woodfin Police Lieutenant Ammons, two suspects tried to rob the store. One of the suspects is in custody according to Ammons while police are still searching for the other.
Alan Miguel-Ruiz, 26, of Bear Creek Lane in Asheville was arrested on September 1 at 11:16 pm for attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon. However, the report does not list what type of weapon was used in the crime.
Miguel-Ruiz was arrested at Davidson Drive in Asheville by Woodfin Officer C. M. Morrow.
In late breaking news, Woodfin Police also captured Arath Tomas. The Woodfin Police Department would like to thank the community for their assistance in identifying these two suspects.
